PIP abuses as reported by WHAS 11 News

WHAS 11 News Reporter Chuck Olmstead aired a report on May 14, 2007 about abuses of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) insurance coverage in Louisville, Kentucky. The report was titled "Chasing the Ambulance Chasers", and it described solicitation of accident victims by runners working for lawyers and medical providers. The runners promised people injured in accidents $5-6,000 if they would agree to be represented by those for whom the runners worked.

An interesting segment starts at 5:38 of the video. In that segment a woman describes how she was treated by a chiropractor who told her that she would be covered by up to $10,000 under PIP coverage. After a long period of treatment she said that she was still no better. Her PIP benefits may have been exhausted by then, although that was not explicitly stated in the report.
